How does the free trial work?

Every new user gets a free trial of 1,000 generated words, valid for 7 days. There's no payment required to start. After the trial, you can choose to subscribe, or continue using the offline features that don't require AI.

What's included in each subscription tier?

Words count toward AI-generated responses. Cached responses (when you ask the same thing twice) are free. Offline preset suggestions count at a reduced rate.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, not within the app. To cancel:

Your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select your talk subscription. Apple reviews each refund request individually.

Is my conversation history private?

Yes. Your conversation history is stored on your device only by default. We never see or store your conversations on our servers.

If you enable iCloud Backup in Settings, your history is synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's encrypted infrastructure. We still have no access to it.

For additional privacy, you can enable Clear on Exit in Settings. This deletes all conversation history every time you fully close the app.

Why isn't the language change working?

We currently support eight languages but they require iOS to fully restart the app to load translations. After choosing a new language, the app will quit — reopen it manually to see the new language.

If translations still don't appear, please check your iOS Settings → talk → Language to ensure the system-level language is also set correctly.

The AI suggestion isn't quite right. What can I do?

Try the Retry button on any generated response — it'll generate a fresh attempt. You can also adjust the tone (Funny / Warm / Clever / Confident) at the top of the screen for a different style.

If you have AI Uses History enabled in Privacy settings, the AI improves over time as it learns your preferred style.

Does talk work without an internet connection?

Is the wellness information medical advice?

No. The wellness content (breathing techniques, meditation, diet tips, nutrition data) is for general educational purposes only. It is not medical advice and should never replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Always check with your doctor before starting any new wellness practice.

How is my data used to improve the app?

We do not collect, analyze, or use your conversations to improve the app or train AI models. Your prompts are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses, then returned to your device. Anthropic does not train its models on API content by default.
